So, this week I decided to make an educational post on the caloric density of some of our foods we hate to love. Yup – the foods we frequently turn to for emotional comfort and satisfaction.
It’s tough to resist these treats, but sometimes it’s good to know what you’re up against. I don’t know if any of you feel the same, but when you’re counting calories and macros, mathematics can very often be the savior of the day. If you’re thinking – how will knowing how many calories are in a triple decker pizza help me feel better?! – then I say to you: it is all in the PLANNING.
There’s nothing I hate more than being on a diet – eating something I’m not supposed to – and then feeling terribly guilty about it. I might be a bit weird in that regard, though, because I become very OCD when I’m on a fitness plan – probably because my body requires a lot of incentive to get in shape (i.e. I have a very slow metabolism and can’t afford to stray off the track).
This is exactly why I like to know EXACTLY what I’m dealing with and how many calories are in my favourite treats ? I like to plan ahead so that I don’t ever feel deprived on a diet – this might just be my secret weapon. Lately, I’ve been extremely compliant with my fitness plan because I allow myself occasional treats – like burgers (oh my word I LOVE them!), Sweet Chili Doritos, ice-cream, and those absolutely addictive barbecue pancakes from Woolies. I never feel guilty because I plan ahead.
